New users
Winrat has a licensing system based on text which can be emailed and runs for a fixed period, usually twelve months. There is a free evaluation licence which works with the standard program but disables the "Save" command. To install a licenced evaluation copy click on the link below to download the Windows installer (msi) file for the latest available major install, then double-click the installer file itself. Once the package is installed you can remove the downloaded installer file (.msi). You can remove the evaluation copy from your PC by going to the Windows control panel tab for installing and de-installing software.
If you choose to buy a licence to use WinRAT, you will not need to de-install the package, but will be sent the licence details to upgrade the evaluation licence to the full version. You can install WinRAT on as many computers as you need.
Existing users
All licences will work with all versions of the Winrat. The "major" install type is a self-contained install, including an evaluation licence if a licence is not already in place.
If a licence has not already been installed on the computer where you are downloading the software, then the program will prompt you for licence details each time you start it, until you supply the details. You can install the same licence on as many computers as you need.
Downloads
WinRAT is shipped in the form of a Windows Installer file (.msi). This must be downloaded (by clicking the pink arrow) and then executed by double-clicking the downloaded .msi file. The installer offers an opportunity to install the package into a different directory from the standard one, if desired. After the installation is complete, the .msi file itself is no longer required and can be removed. Downloading and installation only take a few moments. If you are installing for the first time, and have a company logo image file (you will need it in .BMP file format), put a copy in the winrat folder and name it "logo.bmp" (replacing the dummy file logo.bmp). Your logo will then appear in the full page output of Winrat.
From WinRAT version 4.0, new licences are installed from a file supplied by email, and annual renewals are installed directly from the internet.
